WDCV crowned 2015 DCB U17 champions

Here is a short run down of the U17 DCB finals down in Frankfurt last weekend where the WDCV boys, including Furqan Haider and Kausar Agha from CICC, did us proud by winning all their games and therefore became DCB U17 champs for 2015.

First match
Toss won by Hessen U17 they batted and made 81 with tight bowling from Stean only giving ca. 14 runs of his 4 overs and taking 3 wickets, Zalmay 2-18, Kausar 2-21, Sourish 2-8. WDCV started well but lost 3 wickets in the 4 and 5th over. Some good calm batting from Stean and Furqan we got near to the target and after both wicket fell Khalil won it by hitting a six and some quick singles with almost 9 overs left and 5 wickets.

Second match

WDCV lost toss again and NDCV decided to bat. Stean again bowled very tight and got first over wicket maiden with Zalmai bowling very good. WDCV kept on taking wickets before NDCV Middle order started playing in the gaps and taking singles. Captain Shakib didn’t let them take the match away and brought stean And Zalmai back who made sure the is under control of WDCV. Only Basit from NDCV played responsibly and made 44 with hard hitting support from M.N. Daub making 13.  NDCV managed 91 in their 20 overs.
NDCV’s Basit and Zakhil bowled really well and had WDCV 4-4 with 2 wickets each before captain Shakib decided to send in Stean and Naman who both played brilliantly to take WDCV close to victory. Stean got out for 27 when only 27 was required of 11 overs. But with Naman playing very calmly, skillfully finding the gaps  for his 19 not out, and with Khalil again contributing with a six and 2 fours (18 n.o.), WDCV made it across the line to win the match by 5 wickets with 8 overs remaining.

By winning both games, WDCV were declared tournament victors and 2015 DCB U17 champions.
