CICC 2026: Back in Action (and we’re starting strong)

If there’s one thing we learned in 2025, it’s this: cricket in Cologne is not just alive… it’s properly growing.

Last year was full of momentum for Cologne International Cricket Club. More players joined, our community got stronger, and we saw something that genuinely makes us proud: cricket here is becoming more structured, more welcoming, and more serious in the best possible way.

From new faces turning up for the first time, to experienced players helping others level up, to our growing focus on juniors and women’s cricket… 2025 gave us a strong base. And now we’re stepping into 2026 with the same energy, just even more organised and hungry for a big season.

A club that builds players (and even national team ones)

One of the biggest highlights we want to mention is our player Ahmad, who has been selected for the German National Team in the past.

For us, that’s not just a proud moment, it’s also a sign of what we stand for: helping players develop and level up. Over the years, we’ve built a real habit at CICC of producing players who go on to compete at higher levels, and we want to keep pushing that standard.

A big reason is our setup in Cologne. We’re lucky (and grateful) to have access to facilities that are honestly rare in Germany:

Two proper cricket grounds in Köln
Official cooperation with Stadt Köln
Net practice areas
Bowling machine training available

That combination makes a huge difference. It allows us to train with consistency, structure, and quality, whether someone is just starting out or pushing for performance cricket.

Indoor season is in full flow

Even though it’s still the end of January, we’re already fully in “season mode.”

Our Saturday indoor training sessions are running at full intensity, and it’s been brilliant to see the sessions buzzing week after week. Indoor training is the perfect pre-season warm-up: sharper footwork, better technique, and the kind of repetition you only get when you train properly.

Most importantly: this isn’t limited to one group.

At CICC, kids, women, and men are all welcome.
Whether you’re completely new to cricket, returning after a break, or already playing regularly, there’s a place for you here.

Cologne cricket community: come be part of it

One thing we love about CICC is the people.

It’s the players who stay behind to help someone with their bowling action.
It’s the captains who keep things competitive but friendly.
It’s the newcomers who show up slightly nervous and leave saying, “That was fun, I’m coming again next week.”

If you’re based around Cologne / Köln, and you’ve been thinking about getting back into cricket (or trying it for the first time), consider this your sign.

Come down, train with us, and let’s get you match-ready.

Outdoor nets hopefully start in March

Germany doesn’t always make it easy for cricket, but we always find a way.

If the weather behaves (fingers crossed), we’re aiming to kick off outdoor net sessions from March. That’s when the rhythm of the season really starts: longer sessions, bigger intensity, and everyone building towards matches.

We’ll share the schedule as soon as it’s confirmed.

Big date to note: 14.03.2026

We’re also excited to share that our first Men’s European Friendly Match is coming up on:

📅 14.03.2026

It’s a big moment for the squad, and also a strong early marker for what we want 2026 to look like: more cricket, more exposure, more competitive games, and more memories for the club.

We’ll be posting more details soon, so stay tuned.

2026 is about growth + good cricket

This year, the goal is simple:

More structure.
More training.
More opportunities for juniors and women.
More matches.
And a club environment that continues to feel like community first, always.

If you’re already part of CICC, thank you for being here and building this with us.
If you’re not yet, we’d love to welcome you.

Let’s start 2026 the right way.

See you at training 🏏🔥
