After what seems like decades of service to CICC, our founder member Andrew Schou, a.k.a. Kitters, stepped down as club chairman. The club started out as little more than a pub group with a cricket problem, but Andrew played a key role in organising the early partnership with ASV Köln e.V., allowing us to train at the Rugby Park and take part in the DCB-NRW league. His dedication to the cause also ensured that the promotion of youth cricket was a high priority for the club right from the start. More recently, it was largely thanks to Andrew’s initiative and lobby work that we now boast the only hard-surface net practice facility in Cologne at TPSK e.V., Bocklemünd. We would all like to express our appreciation for his tireless efforts and hope that he will continue to give us advice, especially at future barbecues!
The club committee has appointed Tushar Marwaha as acting chair until the next general meeting later in the year. Tushar is also of the co-founders of CICC e.V., has 2 years of experience as a team captain and is well-connected with the regional and national cricket landscape. We wish him every success in his new role!
Finally, Sachin Aryal has taken over as captain of the men’s team and is organising their winter indoor training which has resumed at our usual location in Kalk on Saturday mornings – see training page for details.
